Holiday Cocktails

Yummy Cocktails, Mocktails, and at-home fun for the 2020 Holiday Season

It's that time of year. Cozy sweaters (if you aren't in Florida like me), warm beverages (I drink them anyway), and Holiday Parties.

But., this year, to keep everyone safe, those are going to look a bit different. And that's ok! This isn't forever. So why not have some fun with it?

Get creative this season with fun ways to connect and have a virtual Happy Hour or Cocktail hour. Whether it's an office party to keep up camaraderie or Christmas with friends and family that can't be together in person, the spirit of the holiday’s lives within us.

So, celebrate that with some delicious Cocktails or Mocktails and some fun in home entertainment.

Let's start with the adults, since, we probably need to let loose even more than the kids right now. And let's start with a Virtual Happy Hour.

Call up your friends, your family, your colleagues and connect. Think of all of this as PHYSICAL distancing more than Social. We need to be social now, maybe more than ever before. Zoom offers free 30-minute calls. No need for a plan or a payment, just sign up with your email. Or, we have Google Hangouts, Facetime, Facebook Messenger, really is endless. We are so lucky to have these options so we don't have to lose our connection to loved ones.

So, call them up on your app of choice and get ready to show off your skills. We are going to start with my new seasonal favorite, the Smirnoff Holiday Cosmo. We chatted about this on The Lifestyle List this morning, and I want to be sure you know how to make this beautiful, tasty beverage...this is where my bartending experience comes in handy.

1oz. Smirnoff No. 21 Vodka

1oz. Orange Liqueur

4 oz. Cranberry Pomegranate Juice

Honey, agave, or liquid sugar

Rosemary and cranberries for garnish

Rim a martini glass with the honey, agave, or liquid sugar (this is stickier than just water), and dip the glass into sprinkles (we used red, but whatever color your heart desires). In a cocktail shaker add ice, vodka, orange liqueur, and cranberry pomegranate juice. Shake until chilled. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with cranberries and spring of rosemary.

No cocktail shaker, no problem. Use a to-go coffee mug (with lid secured) and voila! The Holiday Cosmo. Prefer ice IN your cocktails, pour over ice in a low-ball glass rimmed with the same concoction for a no less fabulous way to partake.

Ready for the Mocktail version? Super easy!

1oz. Orange juice

4 oz. Cranberry Pomegranate Juice

Splash of Pineapple for added sweetness

Honey, agave, or liquid sugar

Cranberries and Orange wedge for garnish

Rim a martini glass (or something a little less breakable) with the honey, agave, or liquid sugar and dip the glass into sprinkles. In a cocktail shaker (or your handy to-go coffee mug) add ice, orange juice, pineapple juice, and cranberry pomegranate juice. Shake until chilled. Pour into a martini glass and garnish with cranberries and an orange wedge.

So now you have your drinks, what about entertainment?! As a performer myself, I am super proud of the many artists that are taking to the online platforms to keep moving forward. Here are some amazing options for you to have a night out, at home.
